About Steven K Schar
Who is Steven K Schar?
I’m Steven Kenneth Schar, and much of my life has been spent as a caretaker of cattle on my family’s beef farm in rural Wayne County, Ohio. Growing up with two brothers taught me the value of teamwork and community, especially through my time in 4-H. I’ve always found joy in restoring old treasures, whether it’s a rusty truck or a weathered barn.
Photography is another passion of mine.
I love capturing the beauty of life’s simple moments, whether it’s a winding backroad or a serene lakeside. Traveling and exploring are what really fuel my spirit. I often hop on my bike, discovering hidden gems and meeting fascinating people along the way.
My journey hasn’t always been smooth. I’m a twice-divorced man, but I’ve also experienced something incredible: at age 30, I discovered a long-lost brother that I had never known about.
My life is a tapestry of love, loss, and resilience, woven together with dirt on my boots and a stubborn spirit. Each day is an adventure, and I embrace every moment with open arms.

Stories of Farm Life and Family
Barefeet, Backroads, & Beat Up Trucks: Recollections and Lessons Learned from Both Sides of the Barn Door
I began journaling at age 53 during what felt like a personal storm, convinced it was the end of my journey. Little did I know, this was just the beginning. Writing became my lifeline, a way to navigate the turbulent waters of divorce while protecting my integrity through a challenging process.
As I traveled the 2-Laneroads of Wayne County, Ohio, I often found myself reflecting on my life as the middle brother. I split my time between a 30-acre beef farm and a 250-acre dairy farm, splitting the workload between both worlds.
By June 10, 2022, I had a moment of clarity, I realized my marriage was ending and I really didn’t have a say in the matter. This book captures those transformative experiences, serving as a reminder that even in the depths of hardship, there’s always room for growth and renewal.
Each page tells a story of resilience, and I hope it inspires others to embrace their journeys.
